Obituary
Joseph Brendan McTernan passed away on Saturday, Feb., 13, 2016 at Prestige Manor, Belleview, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. Brendan was born in Enniskillen, N. Ireland to Elizabeth and Patrick McTernan. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Catherine, of 53 years and their son Kevin and his wife, Sherry of Clearwater, Fl. He is predeceased by his sister Peggy O’Donoghue, Enniskillen, and survived by his dear brother James, Summerfield, Fl, sisters Kathleen Meehan, England, Emma Murphy, Belfast, Evelyn Lively, N. Ireland and many loving nieces and nephews in Ireland, England and the United States.
Brendan emigrated to the United States in 1956 and was employed by TWA at that time. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959 and continued with TWA until his retirement in 1993. Brendan loved being outdoors, landscaping and gardening and talking with all his friendly neighbors at Del Webb Country Club. He loved all sports especially soccer, which brought back wonderful memories of growing up in Ireland. He loved people and they loved him and his happy nature and heartwarming personality. Even in his illness, he lit up the lives of many of his friends and staff at the Manor with his familiar smile and happy personality.
A Funeral Mass will he held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Candler, Fl on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 11 a.m. Internment will take place on Monday, February 29, 2016 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fl at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (ALZ.org.)
I am Dolores, Peggys Daughter,I am so sorry that uncle Brenden has passed away. Uncle Brenden was my godfather. He was always very kind and generous with his time. He was great fun and would always make you laugh ( He will be missed)
