Obituary

Joseph DeFeo , age 45, passed on March 26, 2020. He is survived by his mother, Nancy J. DeFeo, brothers, Paul DeFeo, Jr., Nicholas DeFeo and his wife, Nicole, Dominick DeFeo and Louis DeFeo, daughter, Destiny DeFeo Young, nephew, Nicholas DeFeo, Jr., nieces, Kayla, Brianna and Bella DeFeo. He is preceded in death by his father, Paul Nicholas DeFeo, Sr.

Joseph was the second born of the five DeFeo brothers. Joseph was not only a brother, he was first and foremost a son, a father, an uncle and a lifelong true friend to so many. He was also the family standup comic, he was loud and he was funny telling family stories when we were all together, of course he would always elaborate a bit each and every time he told the same stories. Joseph lived his life through a lens of determination and was always pushing through the next hurdle, the next challenge. Joseph’s strength of character and pure determination inspired all who took the time to know him. His talent for sales coupled with an entrepreneurial spirit which fueled  his passion and carried him through the difficult times in life. Joseph was a force of nature and physical strength both mind and body until his last day on earth. Never once did he ever complain during this last battle. He will forever be missed by his heartbroken family. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 am, Saturday March 27, 2021 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church New Smyrna Beach, Fl

This really breaks my heart I wish I would have know. Joe was such a good friend to me in my younger days. Me , Ralph, Jay, Randy we were all practically inseparable.
I was really sad when we all went our separate ways.
But Joe was unforgettable his larger than life voice and personality was the reason we got along so well and he was so funny and such a loyal friend he would give you the shirt off his back or back you up at the drop of a hat.
I remember the times when we would go out on the town the funny pickup lines he used to say …” But you know I love you”, “Do your feet hurt? Cause you just fallen from heaven” , “If I controlled the alphabet Id put “U” and “I” together”, such good memories and times…
Im the one in the red shirt black bandana, and also in the picture below posted by Jen in the Red bandana.
    RIP my good friend.

I have been friends with Joseph's mom for over 40 years. However, having lived in different states most of those years, I have not had the honor to know Joseph as the man with a heart bigger than life and who's love of his family ran as deep as the ocean. What a loss for me. RIP Joseph and may the angels carry you home❤️

    To the Defeo Family,
Our sincerest sympathy at the loss of your son, your dad, your brother, brother-in-law, and uncle!
We knew Joseph through his mom. We knew him to be the young man who walked right up to you, greeted you and introduced himself! We knew a very polite and gracious young man who was grateful for anything done for him! Even towards the end, Joseph was trying to help Elizabeth get a cart from the condo garage and still greeting us with a smile and hug!!
We are ever so sorry for your loss! The Foley’s (Carl, Franky and Elizabeth)

Joseph, You fought the good fight all your life when no one know that you were. I knew. You were my bigger than life, louder anyone in the room, funny, generous, kind and strong willed boy. Your heart was so generous and life happens sometimes not the way we planned and sadly some did not know you heart. You had the "GoodFella" exterior to hide your hurts but your family and friends knew you and understood how gentle you really were. God created you and gave you to me for 45 years. He has you back now and I know you are finally finding peace and for that i am grateful. I will miss you forever mom and every day I will say "good morning mom" to you and will look for you in many ways during the day. I have your brothers and all our memories to keep me going until I see you again. love you forever and ever. mommy
