Joe is preceded in death by his parents Gerard and Barbara Murray of Dorchester, MA, his brother-in-law Matthew McDonnell of Quincy, MA, and his brother-in-law Daniel Roberts of El Paso, TX.
Joe was born in Boston, MA and raised in Dorchester, MA graduating from Saint Gregory’s Grammar School in Dorchester, MA and Newman Preparatory School in Boston, MA. He received his Bachelor of Arts in History from Boston College and a Master of Divinity from Saint John’s Seminary.
A life-long Boston College sports fan, Joe watched Boston College football, hockey, baseball, and basketball games with zeal. His passion for BC games was cultivated by his father who regularly brought Joe to BC football games as a child. After retiring to Florida, Joe remained an avid BC sports fan, flying up to Boston for as many football games as possible. Their shared love of travel, Christmas, Disney and long-drives provided years of adventure. Joe enjoyed singing and shared his voice in the St. Gregory’s adult choir for many years. In Florida he was a member of the choral group in the community where he and Peggy lived.
A funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday October 16, 2021, at 11:00 AM, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wildwood, FL.

    Dearest Peggy,

Joe will be missed by us at our weekly BINGO lunches. Always outnumbered by all of the women, he was our token man who treated us all so well. But he treated you, his Queen, as his number one and rightly so, as the love of his life.

    Blessings until we meet again,
Love, Lynne ( one of the Canucks)

Our family are very saddened at the loss of Joe Murray. Joe will be very much missed, a gentle, kind soul loved by us all, especially by his Soul mate and his Wife Peg, my much-loved sister. Our last meeting was shortly before his sudden death. We all have such great memories and pictures of just enjoying each other. Be at Peace, Joe, in your Eternal Rest. God Bless.
Our Love and Prayers, Frank and Ann Ragonese

I would like to offer my sincere condolences to Peggy and the extended Murray and McDonnell families on the sudden passing of Joe. I have such fond childhood memories of Peggy and Joe visiting us in Ireland together. Joe had such a gentle manner and a wonderful singing voice. Peggy and Joe were always a part of our lives growing up in Ireland and I would be so excited to hear they were coming to visit us Ireland. This tradition even extended to their arrival from the USA for my own children's special days.
May God grant him eternal rest in heaven and give you all peace and comfort at this sad time..
Rest in peace Joe, fondly remembered by us all here, Breege , Shane , John & Le Clarke (Ireland)

It was an honor to sing with Tenor Joe. We participated in the Continental Country Club Singers in Florida.
    A very nice man.
