Obituary
Josephine Mae Ingalls passed away suddenly from natural causes on January 30, 2024 in her beloved home in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. She was 91 years old. She was born on March 10, 1932 in Castle Creek, New York to James Kelley and Velma Mae Winfield. She attended Waterville High School and raised her family in Augusta, NY. She later moved to Florida in 1979 after her sons went into the service.
Josephine worked in the banking industry for 20 years and in the hotel hospitality business for 10 years. She enjoyed NASCAR races and attending races at New Smyrna Speedway. She loved to write poetry and was very proud be a published author in the Who’s Who in Poetry 2017 Volume 2 by Eber & Wein Publishing. She was an avid reader, gardener and self-proclaimed “tough old bird.”
Josephine leaves behind her sons Thomas (Julie) Ingalls and Newton (Bonnie) Ingalls, grandchildren Jessica Ingalls, Gregory Ingalls, Bryan Ingalls, Lindsay Walker & Mallory Ingalls, Joseph Volkman, Janine Lalonde & Michael Volkman, cherished nieces and nephews, and several great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sisters, Joyce (Richard) Smith, Linda Fey, and special extended family, Nancy Crane, Sharon Smith, Morgan (Linda) Hoover, Brian & Brandon (Riley) Hoover.
Josephine was predeceased by her son Andrew “Mike” Volkman, brothers Frances, James & Arnold Kelley, former husband, Newton Ingalls, Sr., & her longtime companion Herbert Argabright.
