Obituary

Judith (Judy) Ann Muzzy (Durkee) died peacefully surrounded by her family on June 4, 2016 in Jacksonville, FL at the age of 74 after a long battle with cancer. Judith is survived by her daughter Wendy Haggard (Chris Green) of Jacksonville, FL, daughter Lisa Remington (James) of Edgewater, FL, step son Stephen Muzzy of Kingston, PA, her granddaughters Amber Long (Andrew), Marissa Remington, Keavy Remington, Sara Muzzy, Allison Muzzy, her great grand children Jaxon Long, Calli Long, Karter Binder and her very special friend Emory Smith. She is preceded in death by her husband James Muzzy, mother Lenora Durkee, father Gordon Durkee, mother in law Catherine Muzzy and father in law Roger E Muzzy Sr. Judith was born on April 10, 1942 in Hanover, NH to Lenora and Gordon Durkee. She graduated high school from Thetford Academy in Thetford, VT in 1961. She married James Muzzy March 15, 1968.. Judith worked for many years at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital before moving to Florida in 1990.  In Florida, she worked in the bakery at Winn Dixie before retiring. She was a dedicated care giver for her family in their later years.  Judy was an early riser and loved meeting her friends at Peggy’s Country Kitchen every morning as well as going to the Beacon Restaurant for dinner.    A life celebration in her honor will be held on Friday June 17, 2016 at 11:00 am at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens 3001 S. Ridgewood Ave,  Edgewater FL.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Judy’s life. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Northeast Florida Community Hospice 4266 Sunbeam Rd Jacksonville, FL 32257.

    May the Lord be with the family at this time of sorrow.I met Mrs Muzzy when her daughter Lisa worked with me at Walmart.She was a very nice kind hearted woman.She is not in pain any more and will be looking down at her family.God Bless
