Obituary

Karen Elaine Moran, age 65, passed away on November 2, 2020 in Daytona Beach, FL.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Heather Griffin, son in law, Harrison Griffin, grandchildren; Molly Griffin and Reece Griffin all of Port Orange, FL; her daughter Amy Mento, son in law Mark Mento, and grandchildren; Austin Babish, Autumn Mento, and Madison Mento all of Montana; her sister Sandra White and husband Rickey White of Hariman, TN; her sister Joyce DeVary of Kingston, TN; and her beloved dog, Daisy.

Karen was born on November 1, 1955 in Knoxville, TN, to parents Grady and Dorothy Jean Cox of Oliver Springs, TN, both of whom have preceded her in death. Karen spent much of her career in retail services and insurance sales before her life journey shifted and she developed a passion for working with those in substance abuse recovery. In recent years, Karen earned an associates degree in Human Services and was actively pursuing her bachelor degree in that same field with the goal of opening her own recovery house for women.

Karen was a devoted mother and grandmother, spending much of her time with her family. She was always a force of helpfulness, hope, and positivity. She deeply held her protestant faith, was active in her community and enjoyed volunteering and supporting social and environmental causes that were important to her. Karen was always ready for an adventure and was a voracious reader who was never without a book. Her vitality and compassionate spirit will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, November 9, 2020 from 3pm-5pm at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home, 620 Dunlawton Avenue, Port Orange, FL 32127. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Karen’s life.
