Obituary

Katharine Elizabeth “Penny” Penick was born March 4, 1922 in Lynchburg, Virginia and went to her eternal home April 14, 2020.

Penny moved from Lynchburg, VA, grew up in Philadelphia, then returned to Lynchburg to meet her true love.  She then moved to Sanford, Florida in November 1961 where she resided most of her life until she moved to Deltona, Florida.  She worked throughout her life in the garment industry at Sandra Fashions and for many years at Gregory Lumber Company in Sanford.

Penny is survived by her children Wayne Penick (Paulette), Steve Penick (Pat), David Penick (Kathy) and Cheryl Brooks (Randy), sister Evelyn Wade and brother Lee Dodson.  Multiple dearly loved and cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by loving husband Ernest Price Penick, Jr., mother Katharine Dodson and father William Dodson, sister Mildred Boyd and brother Bill Dodson.

Penny was known to so many by Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Penny, Cassie, Kitty and my dear friend.  Penny was a loving wife of 53 years, a devoted mother and grandmother, a beloved sister, a very special aunt and a very special friend to many.  Her bright smile and laugh were a joy and she always took the time to care for others around her and have a hug for everyone.  She loved flowers and gardening and always said that was where she was closest to God.  She loved going places and was always ready to hop in the car and go for a new adventure at a moment’s notice.  A new adventure begins as she takes the hand of the man she loved so much, as he greets her at the gates of heaven, to say I have missed you so much let me show you around.

We love you mom you will be so missed, but never forgotten!

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Halifax Health Hospice, 4140 S. Ridgewood Avenue, Edgewater, FL  32141 or Tunnel to Towers Foundation. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

"Grandma Penny" was a rare soul and there was always this joyful light surrounding her. She was such a gift to all in her life and encircled everyone with that beautiful light even if you were new to her circle. I will always smile when I remember her and will miss her always.

She always made you feel like the most important person in the room. And she did that for each and every person. She personally greeted you, hugged you, kissed you on the cheek, sat with you and spent time with what felt like, just you. She loved on my granddaughters like they were her own. The world lost a very special person. And heaven gained one of the best. You will be greatly missed!

Hi Cassie, tell Price we said hello! We always enjoyed you when we met and you were always a joy. Maybe your luck will get better in the Family Pool with divine guidance! Just think now you can have all the crab cakes you can eat.
    Love, Deb and Bill

Hi Mom. Pat & I just wanted to tell you what a great time we had with you the last time we saw you; and took you out to the rose garden area. What a beautiful smile on your face as you soaked up the sunshine outdoors. That was the happiest we have seen you in a long time. We will always cherish that memory. Tell Dad hello for us. We know you two are having a great reunion. We miss you. We love you.
    Pat & Steve
