THEO, KATHERINE MARIE MONOXELOS 96, of Coral Gables passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 5th. She was born on January 12, 1921, in West Point, Georgia, to Mary Kate (Bray) and George Monoxelos. She and her sister, Helen Dean (92, JAX), grew up in Columbus, Georgia. She majored in drama at Shorter College. She met her loving husband of 50 years, Ernest Theo, in 1941 at a US Government Bond Drive in Atlanta, Georgia, and they married the same year. They moved to Coral Gables in 1946. She lived there for 64 years. She was a pioneer member of St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral and was proclaimed an honorary member of the Greek Orthodox Philoptocos Society in 2008. She will be dearly missed by her three daughters and their husbands: Kay Marie and Thomas Gerspacher (Coral Gables, FL), Alicia Cheryl and Ray Canada (Dumfries, VA), Helena Sophia and James Ryan (Winter Park, FL). She adored her 11 grandchildren: Lisa North, Susan Snyder, Greta Pogue, Debbie Floyd, Kathryn Bailey, Chris Canada, Mirachelle Canada, J Patrick Ryan, Chelsea Collins, Eric Ryan, Meredith Carpenter. They and her 26 great-grandchildren were blessed by her prayers, nurturing love, Greek pastries and traditions. Katherine now rests in the arms of her precious Heavenly Father.
