Obituary

Kathleen Ann Taylor Finlayson, 89, of Daytona
Beach Shores Florida passed away June 22,2022.
She was born in Atlanta Georgia on May 6, 1933
to George and Frances Taylor.
Kay always said she was a tomboy and her life
reflected that. As a young girl growing up around
Buckhead with her sister Betty, she explored the
woods and creeks and helped to take care of the
family chickens. Kay enjoyed everything
outdoors and shared that love of nature and
animals with her kids who share her passion to
this day. She had so many wonderful memories of
time spent at the family cabin on Lake Matanza
Beach Illinois swimming, skiing, boating, fishing
and watching the beautiful sunsets. There were
also great adventures along the Illinois River in
the family houseboat. Kay loved playing games
especially cards and was a fierce competitor.
After moving from Illinois to Marietta Georgia she
met and married Russ Greiner and they moved to
Florida where they had a Firestone business in
Edgewater. Kay worked as a realtor with Watson
Real Estate and then a realtor broker with
Fairgreen subdivision in New Smyrna Beach. Kay
was a very special lady with big blue eyes and a
smile to make everyone feel happy and welcome.
She knew no strangers. After Russ’s passing she
married Jim Finlayson and in their 60s they
bought some horses and moved to Murphy North
Carolina to a house with acres of pasture to ride.
They loved exploring and would jump in the car
and just see where the road took them. They
moved back to Florida and had a little getaway at
Lake Ashby where they played cards and fished
with friends.
Kay was proceeded in death by her parents
George Knox Taylor and Frances Burgie Taylor,
(husband) Russell Greiner, (husband) James
Finlayson. She is survived by her sister Elizabeth
Taylor Fraser, son, Walter Deane Hodde, daughter
Frances Adele Hodde, stepson Russell David
Greiner (Rita). Grandkids Keona Hodde, Dustin
(Lacey) Hodde, Alana Black (Randell) Joshua
Greiner, Kristina Greiner, Rachel Greiner. Great
Grandkids Bre Monroe, Allison Parker and Charlee
Renn Hodde. Niece Donna Lenaghan (Mike)
cousins Jan Benish and Bev Taylor. And other
family members.
Kay’s life touched so many in such a wonderful
way. She was strong in her faith and is now with
God.
A private family service will take place in the
future.
