Obituary
Kenneth Joseph Figel, 71, passed away peacefully at his home on February 2, 2024, surrounded by his family, after having fought a two year battle with leukemia. Kenny was born on November, 22, 1952 in New Brunswick, New Jersey to his late, beloved parents Walter E. Figel Sr. and Evelyn Mary (Kurkowski) Figel. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara (Boraski) Figel; his three daughters Jocelyn Figel; Danielle Figel of Pennsville, NJ, and Valerie Reiger of Shady Side, MD; his 5 grandchildren Kevin, Carleigh, Mollie, Jacob and Charlotte; and 5 siblings Joyce Evans, Audrey Stickel, Rosemary Figel and Anthony Figel; predeceased by his brother Walter Figel, Jr. Kenny and Barbara were members of the Church of Epiphany Catholic Church in Brick, NJ until 2018, and joined Saint Francis of Assisi Church in Grove City, Florida.
Kenny and Barbara loved their life together, having lived in Brick for 35 years and upon retirement moved to Englewood, Florida. Kenny graduated from Kean University in 1975 with his B.A. in Biology, and moved on to become an exquisite carpenter, foreman, as a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Somerville, Local #455, now Local #254. Kenny had a contagious smile, witty sense of humor and was always putting his family first. Kenny loved summer at the beach, family holidays, listening to classic rock and attending concerts with family and friends. Kenny was an avid Cowboys fan and loved football, and as of late, became a Tampa Bay Lightning hockey team fan. He will be dearly missed and precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ, on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 9 am to 11 am, with interment at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hillsborough, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Kenneth’s name to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, www.givenow.lls.org
