Obituary
Kenneth Shepard “Shep” Hjelm, born February 5, 1953 in Pittsfield, MA, entered his eternal home suddenly on March 24, 2018. Shep’s 65 short, full years revolved around faith, family, fishing, and football. He was a paragon of virtue, a pillar of strength, a humble servant, an exemplary husband, a most devoted dad, and a generous brother, uncle, and friend. Shep grew up in Winter Park, graduated from WPHS and UCF, served as a loyal member of Faith United Methodist Church, and retired recently from 40+ years with General Motors. His strongest legacy lives on in his near 44 year marriage to best friend and soulmate, Bonnie Bodfish Hjelm. Shep also leaves behind daughters Sheri Hjelm and Keri Hjelm Wilson; son Kenny Hjelm; son-in-love Jimmy Wilson; sister Jane Hjelm Hostetler; brother-in-law Joe Hostetler; niece Jennifer Hostetler; and nephew Jason Hostetler. He is predeceased by parents, Kenneth E. and Ann Hjelm, and Rodney and Martha Bodfish. A celebration of Shep’s life will be at Faith United Methodist Church, 1411 N Dean Rd, on Saturday, April 14 at 11am; donations to the church in his name are requested in lieu of flowers.
