Obituary
Kevin Lee Watkins, of Umatilla, Florida, died in his home on January 10, 2020. He was 59 years old.
Kevin was born to parents Howard and Juanita Watkins on April 25, 1960 in Springfield, Illinois. He grew up as one of six children and attended Lanphier High School in Springfield, Illinois. Upon graduation, he attended WyoTech in Laramie, Wyoming, where he honed his collision and refinishing skills. In 1981, he married Brenda Allen. The two were married for twenty years and had two children, Brittany in 1984 and Korey in 1986. Kevin worked to provide for his family, coached softball and baseball teams his children played on, developed a passion for motorcycles that took him all over the country, constantly remodeled and added on to the family home, and enjoyed new tools and toys.
Kevin changed his career in 1998 and became a commercial semi driver. He retired early from trucking to provide care to his ailing mother. He developed a passion for firearms and fishing. A few years into retirement, he met his girlfriend, Liz. The two of them, along with Kevin’s mother, moved to Florida in 2016. Here, he lived out the remainder of his years.
Kevin is survived by his children, Korey and Brittany; his two grandchildren, Maddison and Garrison; his girlfriend, Liz; his three sisters, and his brother. He is preceded in death by his father, Howard, his brothers, Howard Jr. and Wayne, his sister, Mary Katherine, and his nephew, Jake.
Kevin will be remembered for the laughter and love he brought into the lives of family and friends, his desire to help others, and his passion for living life freely.
He will be missed dearly
