Obituary

Born 9-19-1952 Kirk Eugene Verhaeghe of Portland, Oregon has sadly passed away peacefully 1-11-2024. Kirk was born and raised in Oregon and lived a very full life filled with love, laughter, and spontaneity. He was the child of Richard Emile Verhaeghe and Jo Ann Yagger. Kirk was always with a smile on his face and never seemed to think of himself, always putting others before him. His generosity was a true testament to his character. Kirk spent his work life as an electrical salesman for Consolidated Electrical Distributors and Taylor Electric. Outside of work Kirk enjoyed being outdoors, watching the sun set, playing golf, and fishing when he could get the chance. He was also known as Papa Kirk from many and is survived by his; sister (Jodie Marshall), his brother (Rick Verhaeghe), his only child (Hannah Jo Chiaravalloti) who was his everything, and his four grandchildren (Roman Eugene Disinger, Ezra Rose Verhaeghe, Ilaria M. Chiaravalloti, and Ilenia G. Chiaravalloti).

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the family’s GoFundMe to help with medical bills.  https://gofund.me/72b71ee1

RIP brother Kirk, enjoyed our 25 years working together at CED. I’m glad you got to enjoy your family in retirement.
May the peace and love of family and friends be with your family.

I have fond memories of hanging out with Kirk in Oak Grove and during our high school
days. Great sense of humor and a very distinguished laugh! We cycled down the Oregon Coast in the summer of 72 on our Schwin varsity bikes (40 lbs. of steel with giant sleeping bag and caned food). We had several close calls with logging trucks until we put American and Canadian flags on the back of our bikes. Last saw Kirk in the early 1990’s in Columbus Ohio. We could not believe we survived our youth! My best to Rick, Jodie, his sweetheart and extended family during this time of loss. Be Well, Kit

Les is remembering growing up with Kirk on Linden Lane...the Wallace’s and the Verhaeghe’s. We had some really good times together with our neighborhood/school pals!
We are very sorry for the family’s loss as we are certain he will be missed. Our thoughts are with you all!
