Laura M. Bailes, 76, of The Villages, FL passed away on May 27, 2018 after a short illness. Laura was born in Charleston, WV on April 21, 1942. After high school she went to work for AT&T as a telephone operator and worked her way up to Sales Representative. She married Nelson Bailes March 10, 1962. Laura and her husband lived in several different states until 1978 when they moved to Evansville, IN where they raised two boys Gregory and Stephen. Laura worked for the University of Evansville, IN as an assistant to the Athletic Director. Laura and Nelson moved to The Villages in 2006. She loved The Villages and was active in golf, water volleyball, pickle ball, playing cards and Mahjohg with her friend in the Village of Caroline and Hemingway. She loved visiting with her Grandchildren Justin and Jordan in Ohio. Laura is survived by her husband of 56 years Nelson Bailes; brother, Rick Brown; sister, Betty Teaford; Aunt and Uncle Frank and Linda Soos. Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 12 – 3 PM at Lake Miona Rec. Center.

    I loved Laura's smile and great attitude when playing water volleyball. Laura was kind to my mom when I would bring mom in her wheel chair. I will miss playing with Laura. My condolences to her family and friends. Marianne.
