Obituary
Leon R. Nye was born in Shamokin, Pennsylvania on July 17th,1945 and passed on June 6th 2018 a resident of Fort Myers, Fl. Beloved son of the late Leon R. Nye Sr. and Dolores G. Nadoleny. Brother to Denise A. Beyer and her husband Blake C., Ronald, James, Jan and Martin Nye. Uncle to William A. Andrews the III, and Ronald J. Nye Jr., Janel and Aaron Nye, and Julie Simpson. Great uncle to Adam Atticus Andrews, Nicholas and Tyler Nye, and David and Dominick. He preferred to be known as Butch by friends and family and was loved by all. A graduate of Nebraska State College with a degree in business, he managed two Red Robin franchises in New Jersey for many years. Butch loved acting, and spent many years in various community theater groups. Also a gifted chef, he served at Ellington’s in the Virgin Islands, and the Hyatt Hotel in Key West. Any of us who has traveled to an exotic destination knows how the trip can be enhanced by a friendly, knowledgeable local guide. For years he showed many the tourist around his beloved Key West, relating the historic places, local attractions and even making sure they caught the sunset at Mallory Square on time! Eventually, the first woman mayor of Key West, Wilhelmina G. Harvey, presented him the recognition as eminently worthy to be an Honorary Conch. Also grieving today is his dog, Daisy, whom he loved deeply.. She was a best friend and constant companion. My brothers and I would like to remember our big brother Butch for all of the undying love that he gave us. For taking the time to take us on fun journeys when we were younger. We will never forget all that you did. May your soul rest in peace brother Butch we will all be together again one day. Until then we will miss you, love you and you will never be forgotten.
