Obituary

> Lewis was the son of Cy and Ruth Garrow and grew up in the Bronx. He graduated Bronx High School of Science and won the prestigious Westinghouse award. He met Lorna, the love of his life, as counselors at summer camp. After attending NYU, Lewis was a member of the Army Reserves where he tested weapons. After, he found his calling as an IT Consultant. Lewis and Lorna had a son, Russ. Lewis was a member of the Lincoln Park Board of Education. He coached several of Russ’s youth sports teams, went to all of Russ’s sporting events and was always there to offer advice to anyone dealing with life’s struggles. Lewis loved to build and fly model airplanes and rockets and was and a longtime member of a rocket club. Lewis was a fighter. His strong will helped him win many battles with illness over the years but in the end he succumbed, wanting to be at peace. Lewis began his new journey surrounded by his friends and family the evening of Feb 22nd.

Lewis was a very loving and devoted father, husband, brother and uncle survived by his wife Lorna, son Russell, sisters Elyse and Suzanne, his nephew Brett, nieces Allison, Amy and Jill and many, many friends. Lewis will be sorely missed.

Lewis’s wishes were to be cremated and his remains launched into space. The family will host a Celebration of Life at Hibiscus Recreation Center, 1740 Bailey Trail,The Villages, on March 11, 2018 at 1 p.m.

I was a classmate and only found this out now. May he be at peace and without pain.

Lew was a special guy, incredibly gifted with the ability to grasp the most complex of issues, tolerant of a world with lesser capabilities perhaps because of his great sense of humor. The world was a better place having Lew within it.
