Obituary

Linda Hart Naley of Palmetto, Florida sadly left us on October 23, 2023, after a courageous battle with Cancer.

Linda was born on June 21st, 1942 in Norwalk, Ohio to Helen Hart (Pitcock) and Maynard Hart. She was married to Charles Oscar Naley, Jr. on June 22nd, 1963. Throughout their years together they lived in Norwalk, Ohio, Buffalo, NY, Greensboro, NC, Ellenton, FL and Morganton, GA.

Linda was a loving wife to Charles and loving mother to her three sons, Brad, Sean, and Derek. Linda was also an amazing mom to her many pets over the years. She had such a strong love for animals which led to many lucky dogs, cats, birds, and horses who all got to experience her tender love and care. Linda rescued so many cats and dogs, always giving them a safe home and spoiling them with so much love.

While raising her three boys and many pets, Linda worked at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro as the Administrator of the Counseling Center. During her years in North Carolina Linda was also a beekeeper. After her boys were grown Linda relocated to Florida where she worked at Tropicana and then on to the Education Department of Manatee Memorial Hospital.

Upon retiring Linda and Charles moved to their dream home, a log cabin in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains in the northern part of Georgia. During the summer months Linda enjoyed spending time at her family cottage on Lake Erie. While retired, Linda enjoyed many hobbies some of which included gardening, quilting, knitting, wicker repair, canning, pottery, and collecting sea glass and lucky stones at the beach.

Her more recent hobby was attending Airstream Rallies in her Airstream named “Glynnis”. Linda enjoyed many years in Georgia but eventually moved back to Palmetto, Florida to be closer to family.

Linda was a strong and kind woman. Linda enjoyed cruising, yard sale-ing, and going out to eat, especially out for breakfast. Linda was great at writing letters, and always wrote letters to stay in touch with friends and family. She was caring, compassionate, and selfless. She always had nice things to say to everyone and always went out of her way to share her kind words.

Linda is predeceased by her parents Helen and Maynard Hart “Bumper & Fin”, her brother Daniel Hart, and many of her beloved pets.

Linda is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Charles, her sons Brad Naley, Sean (Jennifer), Derek (Carol) Naley, her grandchildren Spencer, Brooke (James), Lukas, Shayne, her great grandchildren Cameron and Isla, and many nieces and nephews.

Linda will always be remembered by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. There will be a Memorial Service to Celebrate Linda’s life on Saturday, November 18th at 10:00 AM at Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society, 3825 East State Road 64, Bradenton, FL. Luncheon to follow at Brio Italian Grille, 190 University Town Center Drive, Sarasota, Florida.
