Lorene Carter Mitchell passed away peacefully on November 30th. Lorene was known by those that loved her as “Kitty”. Kitty would have been 90 years old February 12th and she would tell you that she lived a good life. Kitty served in the United States Navy, Yeoman First Class, in World War ll. She was stationed in New Smyrna Beach and fell in love with the little beach town so much, she returned with her first husband, Jack Kincheloe, after the war. They owned and operated several local businesses around town and she ended her career as a CNA taking care of the elderly. She loved the outdoors; gardening, playing golf, and spending time at the beach. Kitty is survived by her daughter, Kiki Dabney; her two grandchildren, Justin Dabney and Kelly Coffee Garrett; and her great-grandchildren, Max Garrett and a baby girl Garrett on the way; her sister and brother, Phyllis Stark and Patrick Higgins. Kitty will be remembered for her spunky personality and “don’t tell me I can’t do it” attitude. She will be missed and remembered always. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Halifax Health - Hospice of Volusia/Flagler (3800 Woodbriar Trail Port Orange, FL 32129). Condolences are welcome and may be shared with the family at www.baldwincremation.com.
A Life Celebration in Kitty’s honor will be held at the home of Kiki Dabney on December 10th at 4:00 pm.
