Obituary
Lydia Hegel-Huhn was born in Ingolstadt, Germany in 1947 and immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island as a child. She grew up in New Jersey and later settled in the Washington, D.C. suburbs. She caught the travel bug during her post-college European adventure, and loved to vacation anywhere from national parks to river cruises. She worked in many libraries and loved to share her passion for research and learning with those around her. In her free time, you could find her listening to classical music, quilting, reading a Dave Barry column, or watching the latest Nationals game.
She passed away on Thursday, June 9. She is survived by her two children, Kevin and Allison, and her step-children Wendi and Michelle. A Memorial Service is planned for 11am Saturday, June 25 at St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1120 Spa Road, Annapolis, MD 21401. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of America.
