Obituary
On February 19th, Margaret “Peggy” A. (Sullivan) DeBoyes of The Villages, Florida, peacefully passed away, surrounded by family and friends. She was the daughter of Alexander Sullivan and Mary O’Dea Sullivan, the wife of Bruce DeBoyes, the sister of the late Daniel Sullivan and Ellenmarie Widman, and the mother to Danette LeBlanc, Karen Glander, and Eric DeBoyes. She was the grandmother of seven: Alyssa Kimball, Evan LeBlanc, Ryan Glander, Lauren DeBoyes, Jeremy Glander, Paige DeBoyes, and Jack Glander.
Peggy attended St. James High School in Haverhill, Massachusetts, and graduated from the Wilfred Academy School of Cosmetology in Boston. She then worked as a licensed cosmetologist and coloring expert at Jean’s Salon in Harvard Square. She met Bruce during a vacation to Fort Lauderdale, and they married in 1965. In their 58-plus years together, they built a successful business in New Hampshire before retiring to The Villages, Florida, in 2008.
Peggy was an active Catholic for most of her life and served both her church and community. She was best known for her devotion to her family, her willingness to help those in need, her feisty attitude, her Thanksgiving stuffing, and her straightforward honesty. When she offered her “food for thought,” it was always best to listen.
A “celebration of life” will be held in her honor at her sister’s home in The Villages for her Florida friends on March 14th, from 2:00-5:00pm. A funeral mass and inurnment will be held in Massachusetts in the spring.
