Margaret Rita Chisholm Dickson

Born May 9, 1928
Died February 1, 2018

Margaret Dickson, lifelong resident of Cohasset, Massachusetts passed away at age 89 on February 1, 2018 while ‘snow birding’ in Ocala, Florida after a brief illness.  She was born and raised in Cohasset, and was very proud of her native status.

Born of Lena Chisholm Larsen and raised by Winifred Morse, Margaret was an independent woman ahead of her time who used her skill, humor and strong will to excel at all she focused on. Her careers included gym teacher in South Boston, photographer for the Quincy Patriot Ledger and Boston Herald, award winning exhibitor for the Boston Camera Society, gift department buyer for the Welch Company of Scituate and Remick’s of Quincy. Her retirement career saw her playing competitive golf for Rockland Gold Club and various women’s leagues in Massachusetts.  Whatever she put her hand to, she excelled at.

She married the late Clifford Dickson on November 27, 1948.  They built their lifelong home in the ‘veteran’s project’ on Tupelo Rd in Cohasset, where Margaret also honed her excellent carpentry skills.

She is survived by her daughters, Kelly Brooke Dickson of Cohasset and Ocala, Florida, Winifred Lee Dickson of Cohasset, their spouses, Bill Brooke and Jim Graham, her beloved grandchildren, Andrew Graham of Cohasset, Devon Dickson of Boston, Mackenzie Dickson of Cohasset and her godson, James Charles Piepenbrink of Amesbury, Massachusetts. Margaret was known by many nicknames including Chicky and Peggy, and was also called Momma by many close friends of the family.

In accordance to her wishes, services will be private. A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held in the spring in Cohasset near her 90th birthday.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be sent to:
