Obituary
Martha Jean Douglas, 80, of Summerfield, Florida passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at home, surrounded by her loved ones. Martha was born April 23, 1941, in Bright, Indiana to Floyd and Violet (Green) Mericle. She has resided in Harrison, Ohio, Cincinnati, Ohio, Ross, Ohio, and Summerfield, Florida.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Violet (Green) Mericle, brother Clifford “ Butch” Mericle, mother & father-in-law Owen and Ruth Douglas, brother-in-law Wayne Douglas, and nephew Mark Douglas.
Martha is survived by her husband of 57 years Norman Ray Douglas, her daughters Brenda Douglas and Cindy Mergaert, and her son-in-law Mike Mergaert. Her stepchildren include Michael, and his wife Julie, Douglas, Monica Douglas, grandson Trace Mergaert, step-grandchildren Morgan and Andrew Douglas, Taryn, Tray, and Travis Stefonek, and many nieces and nephews.
Martha was well known for 30 yrs with Bro Distributing in Cincinnati, Ohio with family business and as “Mrs.Jean” at Brite N Rite for 10 yrs, with family business in Ocala, Florida, She is also known as Mom and Grandma. She was admired for her unwavering kindness, generosity, and positive spirit. She loved watching the Hallmark channel and spending quality time with her family.
There will be a private memorial held for Martha. The family would like to thank those who gave flowers, meals, and donations.
