It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Ann Barry announce her passing on March 31, 2023, after a brief illness. She was born on October 24, 1949. Mary Ann attended St. Patrick’s School in Watertown, MA for her elementary school years, She graduated from Middleboro High School in the class of 1967. After graduation she moved to Sandwich, MA. Mary Ann started her banking career at 18 years of age. After 35 years, she retired from Sandwich Co-operative/Compass bank as a VP of Commercial Lending.
Mary Ann lived her life as though each day was a gift. She appreciated life’s simple pleasures. Her positive energy and joyful nature were infectious. Mary Ann was a great communicator which kept us all connected to our extended family. She enjoyed golf, motorcycle riding, biking, all games…especially “Marbles”, dancing, listening to music, all Boston sports, researching family ancestry, and photography (winning many awards).
In 2004, Mary Ann met her partner of many years, Bill Barry. Over the years, Bill has always been referred to as the love of her life. Bill has expressed the same about her. Over their 19 plus years together, they have entertained many family members and friends. To say that they were wonderful hosts is an understatement. Whether visiting for an hour or a month, you couldn’t feel more welcomed or comfortable in their home. One of their greatest joys was traveling throughout our beautiful country camping and traveling in their RV. They visited 49 states with Alaska slated for next year. They loved stopping and visiting with family members along their road trips, Mary Ann blogged about their travels. The Rambling Nomads was posted frequently so that everyone could enjoy the beautiful sights they encountered along their journey.
Mary Ann is survived by her partner and longtime companion, Bill Barry; her siblings, Patti Begin(Ed), Tom Hannon(Bonnie), Maggie Hannon(Mike), Mark Hannon (Brenda), Joe Hannon(Kathy), David Hannon(Patty), and Ann Larracey (Steve); her brother- in-laws, James Barry (Nancy) and David Barry; her uncle, Daniel Farrell; and many nieces, nephews, Godchildren, cousins, and, of course, friends.
