Obituary
Mary Evelyn (Ritter) Hansher, 80, a resident of Venice, Florida since 2013, formerly of Hughesville, Maryland passed away peacefully on August 17, 2023 at home with her daughter Debbie at her side. She was born September 9, 1942 in Moatsville, West Virginia to the late Brooks and Montie (Alexander) Ritter.
Mary, a hairdresser, loving mother and grandmother, was a self-taught artist who was strong spirited, loved life and had an infectious laugh. She enjoyed painting, shelling, stained-glass and traveling domestically and internationally. She was a member of the Sarasota and Englewood Shell Clubs where she won multiple awards for her artistic creations.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Debbie Smith (Harry) of Venice, FL; two grandchildren, Brie Bridgett (Bruce) and Maris Smith; three great grandchildren, Brayden, Brooklyn, and Marley; as well as a sister Barbara Campbell (Bud) of Bel Air, Maryland and two nephews Danny and Tom Campbell.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Venice Yacht Club, 1330 Tarpon Center Drive, Venice, Florida with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Tidewell Foundation, 3550 South Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34239.
