Obituary

Mary Louise Francis Delvecchio Knight, 85, passed away peacefully in the loving arms of her son Craig in their Palm Coast home on Friday the 9th of February 2024. Mary Lou was born in Lewis Run, Pennsylvania on September 21, 1938. Mary Lou was the youngest child of eight, and the last surviving offspring of Nicola and Antoinette Delvecchio. She graduated from Saint Bernard Catholic school in Bradford, Pennsylvania and received a scholarship for nursing in Chicago, Illinois.

After college, she returned to Bradford and met her husband, Robert Lee Knight, whom she was married to for almost 37 years, and they raised four children. Christopher Brandon (Mary Ann) of Palm Desert, California, Cynthia Ruth (Charles) of Mebane, North Carolina, Craig Allen of Palm Coast, Florida, and Curtis Lee (Carmel) of Ocala, Florida.

Mary Lou worked in the medical profession at Lakeshore Hospital for almost 20 years while raising her children in Forestville, New York. She was a phlebotomist and eventually worked into clinical medical administration. She relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1985 where she then became the top student advisor at the University of New Mexico for ten years.

Mary Lou became a widow when Robert passed away in 1995, and after traveling for a few years up and down the East Coast of the United States to see her children, she finally settled in Saint Augustine, Florida in 1998. Mary Lou spent the next 25 years in the sunshine state and became a real estate agent working for Century 21, Coquina Crossing, and Pacetti Realty. After being a widow of 10 years, Mary Lou met Andrew Donaldson of Flagler Beach, Florida, and they went on a journey for 17 years traveling, dancing and enjoying the golden years. She lost Andy in October 2022.

She is survived by her four beautiful children Christopher (Mary Ann), Cynthia (Charles), Craig, Curtis (Carmel), four grandchildren, Brianna Lee, Kendall Elizabeth, Braylee Mary and Kyle Robert and countless nieces and nephews.

I was very sorry to hear about the loss of Mary Lou. Although I never had the chance to meet her personally, it's evident that she was an extraordinary person, as reflected in the character of her sons (Chris and Curtis), whom I am fortunate to know. My thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.
