To Pat and the Blade family, I have just learned of Matt’s passing and I am very saddened. Not only was Matt a great friend to me at the Miriam Hospital, on the softball field as a fellow umpire, but in life as well. The laughs we shared will always be with me. May your faith, family and friends guide you through this difficult time. Marto

Matt has been a dear friend for many years. I first met him at the South Florida Fair in West Palm Beach somewhere around 2005. He did the hands of my wife and I which still sit on our display at home. We have since shared many memories with him and Pat at many events across this great country of ours. Matt, you will be missed. Pat, we are here for you if there is anything you need.

We met Matt and Pat and Misty Girln in a campground near Yosmite during the summer of 2018 (I think). It was the year of the California Camp Fire. We were parked next to each other and struck up a conversation about RVs. We both had Cat C7 engines. Matt helped us clean out our radiator since we'd had problems with overheating. We really enjoyed hearing their RV stories...some of them nail biters. Like the time their Toad caught fire behind the RV going down the road, or when the tailpipe on the RV came loose on the freeway and landed in the windshield of a car traveling behind them. No one was hurt, thank goodness. It amazed me how calm Matt was handling these emergency situations. He took things in stride. Kept a positive attitude. He was a remarkable man. Memorable. Kind. We are very sorry for your loss. He will be missed.
