Obituary

Life Celebration for Michael Christian McClendon, 11, New Smyrna Beach FL who Tuesday, November 26, 2013 will be 4:00 PM Saturday November 30 at Baldwin Brothers Heritage Place 1 North Causeway New Smyrna Beach FL. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until service time. Michael is survived by his parents Shannon Layshock and Michael J McClendon, a sister Taylor West and brothers Tyler and Robert McClendon. Michael was known as “Christian” to everyone. He loved to watch Duck Dynasty, History Channel and River Monsters. His favorite movie was Avatar. Hew enjoyed riding his bicycle and skateboards. He had a special love for being in the woods and tracking deer with his grandfather and family. He played the drums and enjoyed music. He never let his asthma hold him back and he faced everyday as a new day to challenge himself.

    Christian, its may 8th 2023 , i Remember when we were little and we were so excited to celebrate being 20 together for a short time, we always talked about what we would do, I'm turning 20 soon and i still feel lost without you to this day . i finally got a place to live and i have a tribute for you in my apt. I'm planning on getting my 5th tattoo in your memory , I've been working the design for quiet a while. me and Skylar miss you a lot, we talk about you all the time. your gonna be 21 soon dude. i wish we could celebrate togther but ill blow out a candle for you like i do every year . i miss you so much Christian.

    Going through life without one of the best friends I could have asked for. If only you could be here. My son would love you and the happiness you’re remembered as. You’re almost 20 man, I wish we got this time together.

    Five years today dude. Youve been gone for 5 years. Life has been rough lately. The fact i know you're somewhere looking down on me, protecting me the best you can... Its probably one of the few thing i have left to keep me going. I love you buddy. I hope wherever you are youre doin alright.

    It's coming up on 4 year of that horrible night. It plays in my head sometimes and when it does I can't get it out. You were my best friend and little brother and I'll never get that back. I'm happy you're in a better place now. Keep your crazy little self Rollin dude. Love yah buddy.

    It has been a week and I am still at loss for words.. But I am comforted by the fact that you are up in Heaven hanging out with my brother. He loves you so much. To Shannon and kids- I am here if you need me..

    My daughter Cindy knew Michael since 1st grade at Edgewater Public, and also from living in Wildwood Subdivision. She was saddened to hear of his death. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.

    You have a special place in my heart. You are such a wonderful kid. Full of joy and laughter. I still have the baseball you gave me for Christmas with the words that you wrote on it, "You are my favorite teacher...I want you to be my teacher forever." I remember unwrapping that Christmas gift and it bringing tears to my eyes. That was the best gift I ever received. You knew how to make people smile and you touched so many hearts.     Its so hard to believe that you are not here with us anymore Christian, On this day of giving thanks i find it troubling to be thankful for things when i know that your family is suffering today without you wishing you were with them, but I am thankful, I give thanks to you Christian for gracing myself and others with the light that you shinned, I thank you for your silliness and laughter (even if I always wasnt in the mood for it) you always made me crack at grin, and made me realize that sometimes laughter is the best medicine that you always dont have to take life so seriously and thank you for the short time I got to be a part of your life and the memories I get to carry with me forever! We all miss you like crazy and you always will remain in our hearts and on our minds, Shine on my little friend, Happy Thanksgiving buddy, love you!! xo
