Obituary
Michele R. Gomez, loving daughter, friend, colleague, niece, sister-in-law, aunt, stepmother, grandmother – and most of all – adoring wife to Joaquin, the love of her life, passed away at her home with him by her side on March 26, 2024.
Michele was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey in December 1962. Taking great pride in her faith, she delighted in hosting wonderful Jewish holiday feasts for her family. After obtaining her degree from Atlantic Community College, proudly being on the Dean’s List throughout, she moved to Florida. In 1988, she met Joaquin, and the two married in 1993. She seamlessly became the stepmother to his two children. Michele gracefully faced challenges at various times throughout her life with the loss of her parents, brother, and stepsister. She is remembered as a beacon of strength and as someone who always knew what to do when tragedy hit or when a celebration was called for. She was organized and thoughtful, and these traits were ever so evident in both her friendships and her career. As a paralegal at several successful law firms along the East Coast, she worked collaboratively and proactively to help her firms reach their full potential. Most recently, she worked as the Senior Administration Assistant to the Director of the University of Miami in the EPH/Division of Biostatistics, and later as the Executive Assistant to a successful real estate agency in The Villages.
Michele was devoted to helping people. She began volunteering during high school and pursued this passion throughout her life. She served as Guardian Ad Litem for the Broward County Circuit Court where she advocated for children in need. In addition, she also volunteered as an Advocate for Domestic Violence, as well as the American Red Cross.
Michele took great pleasure in many other aspects of life, including fashion, reading, caring for her pets, and being the dependable friend, wife, stepmother, daughter, niece, and neighbor, for which she is dearly remembered.
Michele is survived by Joaquin, his two children, Maria, Tomas (Hilary), and their two grandchildren, Noli and Sebastian as well as her loving Uncle Norman and Aunt Beverly. She is predeceased by her mother, Arlene Levine Rosenblit, Sydney “Buddy” Rosenblit, Bennet Saul, David Saul, and Beth Saul.
The family will be holding an intimate celebration of life instead of a formal service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the Foundation for Women’s Cancer in memory of Michele, two illnesses she bravely battled. Arrangements entrusted with BALDWIN BROTHERS Funeral & Cremation Society-Spanish Springs, 352-430-1449. Sentiments are encouraged at www.baldwincremation.com.
Our beautiful Michele!
