Obituary
Mildred Evelyn Tassin, 93, of New Smyrna Beach, FL passed away peacefully on January 1, 2022, at her home with family. She was born March 20, 1928, in Valrico, Florida to her loving parents, Clarence Melvin and Bessie Floda Moon.
She grew up in South Florida, married at age 16 and lived most of her life in West Palm Beach. She loved taking care of the children of friends and worked for a time at the Jack and Jill Kindergarten. Later she helped care for several of her grandchildren. She loved her family deeply and prayed for each one of them daily. She had a great culinary talent and made delicious meals for her family and made hundreds of sugar cookies for her children’s schools during holidays. She was on a bowling league for a while and had a passion for reading and doing crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.
She earned her GED in 1966 and proudly graduated from Palm Beach Junior College with an Associate of Arts degree in 1970. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Peacock’s Radiator Service in West Palm Beach.
Mildred was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Freddie Joseph Tassin, Sr. and her son, Jeffrey D. Tassin. She is survived by two sons, Freddie (Skip) Joseph Tassin, Jr. (Sheryll) of St. Augustine, FL and Gary C. Tassin of Wilmington, NC, daughter Jennifer L. Manke (Bill) of New Smyrna Beach, FL, 6 grandchildren, Keith, Meredith, Amanda, Matthew, Ashleigh and Kaileigh, 6 great-grandchildren, Megan, Jeremiah, Benjamin, Carter, Ella and Zachary, 3 great-great-grandchildren, Victor, Oliver and Evelyn and her sister, Elsie Murray of Opelika, AL.
A viewing will be held at Baldwin Brothers Funeral and Cremation Society, 1 North Causeway, New Smyrna Beach, FL on Friday, January 14, 2022, beginning at 10:00am followed by a memorial service at 11:00am.
