Obituary
Monserrate Rios passed peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday Feb. 5th, 2020 in Lehigh Acres, FL at the age of 84.
Monserrate is survived by his wife Evelyn, his children Rosalina, Michele, Monserrate, Thomas, Cariebel, and Jacelyn Rios and is now reunited with his predeceased children Thomas, Wanda, Sonia and Alexis.
Monserrate Rios was born on December 30th, 1935 in Mayagüez, PR to Monserrate Rios Sr. and Maria Santana. He moved to NY at 7 Years old and began his journey. Monserrate drove yellow cabs in the city for many years and worked with the Sanitation department of New York for 30 years before retiring in the mid 90’s. In 1999 he moved to Florida with his wife and children where he lived the rest of his life making coffee, putting his tools to use, watching boxing, and creating memories with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He will always be remembered as a loving husband, the “cool” uncle, and the amazing father with contagious sense of humor that you can see in all of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren today and always.
