Mrs. Dallas Lou (Hall) Prater (October 22, 1936 - April 20, 2015) passed away surrounded by her family at home in Edgewater, FL. She was born in Wheelwright, KY to her parent's, Albert Leonard and Victoria Hall (one of eleven siblings). Dallas graduated Wheelwright High School in 1955. DalIas L. Hall and James W. Prater were married August 10, 1957 and just celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. Dallas is survived by her loving family: Her husband, James W., her two sons, Jimmy L. (Caren) of Palm Bay, FL, and Stephen K. (Mashon) of Edgewater, FL; six grandchildren, Sara (John) Ward, Shannon (Jack) Briggs, Victoria (Jesse) Monday, Stephen (Coral) Prater, Danielle Prater, and James D. Prater and five great grandchildren. Dallas also has one surviving sibling, Violet (Harold) Twaddle.
She was the most sweet and loving wife, mother and granny; she never met a stranger and truly cared for people. She was a Southern Belle, genuinely full of life, innocence in nature, and a true ambassador of Southern hospitality. She and James loved serving the Lord; they excelled in the nursery and being greeters at their church.
Dallas was highly regarded in the Edgewater and New Smyrna Beach Realty Association. Dallas successfully sold real estate for Lovell Reality for 15 years, and then moved on to Watson Reality in New Smyrna Beach before retiring in 1998.
Dallas will be memorialized on Saturday, May 2nd, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Beachside Baptist Church, located at 629 South Pine Street, New Smyrna Beach, FL, 386-428-4452.
