Obituary

Myra Jo Zimmerman, 93, known to her loved ones as JoZi, peacefully passed away on August 16, 2023, in The Villages, Florida.

She was born on December 26, 1929, in Etowah, Tennessee, to her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Cleveland Stanford.

JoZi was a remarkable woman who cherished her family. She had a deep love for her late husband, Ralph Zimmerman and her son, Michael Allen Kinzalow, who also preceded her in death.  She held a special place in her heart for her three surviving daughters, Jo Ann Cotton, Phyllis Jean Kinzalow, and Amy Anne Zimmerman, as well as her granddaughter, Emily Smallcomb. She also leaves behind several loved nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.  Throughout her life, JoZi found joy in many hobbies and interests. She had a green thumb and took great pleasure in tending to her vegetable garden. Music was another passion of hers. She enjoyed playing piano, autoharp, and zither, as well as listening to a variety of genres especially Christian traditional hymns and Appalachian folk music.
JoZi was also an avid traveler, exploring new places whenever she had the chance, such as Japan, Okinawa, Morocco, Germany, Israel, and Europe. Sewing and writing were creative outlets that brought her great fulfillment.

Above all else, she lived her life in daily adoration and love of Christ and her Father in heaven.
In honor of JoZi’s memory, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Doctors Without Borders, Samaritan’s Purse, or the Sweetwater, TN First Church of the Nazarene. These organizations held special meaning to JoZi, and any donations made would be greatly appreciated.

JoZi will be remembered for her love, kindness, and unwavering faith. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
May her soul rest in eternal peace. John 14:27 quoting Jesus: “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give you.” “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6.
A celebration of life will be announced later.  Arrangements entrusted with BALDWIN BROTHERS Funeral & Cremation Society-Spanish Springs, 352-430-1449.  Sentiments are encouraged at www.baldwincremation.com.
