Obituary

Nancy Jean Bordeau (65) of Edgewater, FL and Plattsburgh, NY passed away peacefully with her two daughters and husband by her side on March 1, 2024. Nancy was born on May 9, 1958 in Cooperstown, NY. She was the daughter of George and Nellie Harris.

Nancy graduated from Beekmantown Central School in 1977. Nancy was an exceptional bowler and helped lead her team to multiple state competitions. She shared her passion for bowling with her husband and together they enjoyed participating in leagues for many years.

Nancy met the love of her life, Rich, in the summer of 1975 in Point Au Roche, NY. Together they shared a marriage of complete devotion, empathy and compassion for each other. They raised their two daughters, Kara and Savannah, in a loving home and instilled these beautiful attributes in them as well.

Nancy loved her two daughters, loved being a mom and caring for children. She ran a daycare out of her family’s home that allowed her to be fully present to raise her children and others. When her children were older, she worked at CVPH in Environmental Services. She attended all her daughter’s activities, sporting events, and was included in every major event of their lives.

Nancy was passionate about creating and crafting. She was able to sew and make many outfits for her girls. She made every single Halloween costume for her daughters for all their years of trick-or-treating. Nancy crafted beautiful items out of needlepoint that she gave to her family and friends. She created artwork, wreaths, ornaments, and other thoughtful items. Her love for crafting was passed on to her daughters.

Nancy was a kind, compassionate and strong woman. She battled Huntington’s Disease for several years and courageously lived with dignity, devotion and love for her family. Nancy and her family became the strongest team; sharing complete compassion, care, respect and unconditional love.

Nancy is predeceased by her parents, George and Nellie Harris. She is survived by her devoted husband of 44 years, Richard M. Bordeau, two daughters and two son-in-laws, Kara Bordeau (Nathan Arseneault), Savannah Bordeau (Travis Towell), grandson Logan Towell and her brother Robert Harris.

Services for Nancy will be privately held with her family. Nancy will be honored at a Celebration of her life in Plattsburgh, NY at a future date. Donations can be gifted to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, (HDSA.org) in remembrance of Nancy.

My family and I are so sad to hear of Nancy’s passing. The obituary was such a beautiful way to describe Nancy’s life. She was an amazing person. I feel lucky for the time I spent at their house growing up, and for everything her and Rich ever did for me. They treated me like family and I’ll never forget those memories. My mom, Alex and I send our love to Savannah, Kara, and the rest of the family.

My heart aches for all of you. Nancy was a friend as well as a sister-in-law and I treasure the many memories we shared. Rich, you and the girls made Nancy’s last few years special for her. Your love for her was always evident. I believe she is now in heaven with her parents, your parents, and Roger…and no longer suffering from this horrible disease!
My love to all of you.
