Obituary
Nancy Jean Scoggins passed away peacefully with her son William by her side on Sunday, March 24, 2024. She was born Nancy Jean Bland on September 2, 1938. Nancy met her future husband William while attending Benton Harbor High School in Michigan. Nancy grew up on a 40-acre farm where she and her sisters helped her parents raise fruits and vegetables to take to the market. After marrying, Nancy worked several years as a secretary before focusing on raising her two sons. Nancy resided in Michigan for the first 57 years of her life before relocating to Florida in 1995. Nancy and William purchased a home in New Smyrna Beach, Florida to enjoy their retirement and escape Michigan winters. Nancy enjoyed working puzzles, playing games on the computer, and visiting with family. She was preceded in death by her husband William and her sister Betty Bland. She is survived by her sons William Scoggins and Arthur Coburn, her sister Sally Ratz and brother-in-law John Ratz and sister-in-law Kay Walker as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
