Obituary

Nika Elaine Garriott Felty was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who woke up in heaven on November 19, 2021.  She was surrounded by her family with her sister holding her hand as she left this world.

Nika was born on January 8, 1953 at Theresa Holland Hospital, in Leesburg, FL to Rachel & Gerald Garriott of Eagle’s Nest, Fruitland Park FL who preceded her in death along with her sisters, Lea Gwen Garriott and Daun Garriott Webster.

Her greatest love was her family, especially her daughter, Rachel and grandchildren, Naomi and Kenny along with their dad, also Kenny.  She was a creative, whimsical child with the love of art.  She would draw complete landscapes, with little critters in fields from the time she was 3 years old.  She was once disqualified from an art contest because her work was too perfect and the judge said there was no way she drew it free hand.

She loved Jesus, nature, and all of God’s creatures. She always felt she should have been an Indian, living off the land.  She said her Indian name was Nikahontus. If you weren’t careful, you would come across a rattlesnake head in the freezer, a baby alligator in the bathtub or a beetle body on her windowsill.  She lived her life doing what she loved, loving her people and being a light to all who knew her.  She departed this life on her own terms with her heavenly family welcoming her to her eternal life and the family she leaves behind will do our best to honor her legacy by living our lives to the fullest.

She is succeeded by her daughter, Rachel Naomi Felty (Kenneth Curtis IV), grandchildren Naomi Curtis and Kenneth Curtis V, older sister, Jan Garriott Fairbanks (Robert) along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews who love her dearly.

We will have a celebration of life on January 30, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Good News Church of Central Florida, Inc at 400 Executive Drive Leesburg, FL 34748.  Arrangements entrusted with BALDWIN BROTHERS Funeral &  Cremation Society-Spanish Springs, 352-480-5959.  Sentiments may be left online at www.baldwincremation.com.

Nika was one of a kind. A great and devoted lady who loved her family and friends. She was so talented and such a special lady. Although we had not been as close since high school she will always have a special place in my heart. She was such a good and loving lady.

I've never heard anyone say a negative word about my sister. She was sweet, funny, beautiful, delightfully eccentric & loved with her whole heart. I will miss her for the rest of my life.
