Norma Jean Murphy 89, of Port Orange, Florida passed away peacefully on March 18, 2023 at Halifax Hospice Care Center.

Norma was born on April 27, 1933 to John and Emily (Fouts) Hoover.  She married James Murphy on December 24, 1966.  They started their life together in Peoria, Illinois and later relocated to Florida.

Norma was a school bus driver for 15 years, a job she enjoyed very much.  She also had many hobbies, some of which included, reading, crocheting, puzzles, cards and playing bingo with her family and friends.  She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Tom and Dick and her sister Joanne.

She is survived by her step-daughter Beverly Rush, step-daughter in-law Aida Murphy, both of Florida, nieces Shelia Chatten, Karen Harsh, Debbie Creamean and nephew Gary Hoover, all of Illinois.  Norma will be laid to rest next to her husband in Peoria, Illinois.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Halifax Medical Center and Halifax Hospice Care Center of Port Orange, Florida for the treatment and care they provided to Norma and her family.  Norma will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
