I first saw Norm patrolling in South Shore in the early 70's, my old neighborhood. I guess what I remember most was his neat uniform something he continued in his career, always a dapper dresser uniform or plain clothes, which is where I really got to know him joining his tact team in 1986. I shared with him that memory of seeing him in the early 70's. I always enjoyed working around him although we were not partners he shared a lot of information and knowledge. His sense of humor was over the top, he had many funny stories to tell some about the job some not. Norm shared his family with us, not unusual when you work close in a small group of officers day in and day out. We got a kick out of his son Kevin's exploits in hockey and were introduced to him and once saw him in the dead of winter in shorts and flip flops at the local 7-11, of course we had to tell Norm, laughing the whole time. It was easy to see how important Norm's family was to him and I share your loss of a good man, a respected Police Officer and I hope he considered me a friend. My condolences to the family.

Norm, Uncle Norm, Officer Brown. You lived a good life, fully, and the right way. A great husband, great father, great cop, great American. Always keeping it real. 10-42.

Michael the Archangel, hold over the last shift, and block some intersections, for Norm. There will be running of red lights on the road Home.

No need to check St. Peter`s ledger, just a flash of a CPD badge gains entry.

    God bless you.

Uncle Norman... Every memory I have comes back to this: genuine, real, a stand-up, Chicago good guy. He always seemed to be full of life. And laughter. And smiles. And good loud jokes, or smiles, or stories. I loved watching Uncle Norman and Aunt Janet with my parents...it was family. Here's to the incredible life and memories. I pray that those carry you, Aunt Janet and Tracy and Kevin, over the grief - eventually and in your good time. And that God's peace and Uncle Norman's smiles help comfort you again.
