Obituary

Oretha (Sue) Harrison, 87, Daytona Beach, passed away Wednesday April 12, 2017 at Halifax Hospice Ormond Beach after a long battle with Alzheimer/Dementia. Born October 18, 1929 in Allentown Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Daisy Altemos and Jacob Altemos. She worked in the food industry as a server. Later in life she worked for the Council on Ageing Volusia County as a “homemaker” helping her elderly clients with the various tasks of daily living. She never met a stranger. She dearly loved talking to and helping people. She adored her family, always ready to help out when needed. She was a lover of all animals especially her many cats over the years.  She is survived by her four children, Jeffery Maurey and his wife Ruth of Ebensburg, Pa., Dennis Maurey and his wife Kay of Port Orange, Fl., Mary Jo Maurey Parker and her husband David of Pierson, Fl., and James Harrison of Flagler Beach, Fl. A sister Barbara Sanderson of Andrews, So. Carolina. Eight grandchildren, Christopher Maurey, Jennifer Maurey, Olivia Maurey, Ashley and her husband Robert Band, Eryn Maurey, Cason Parker, Tyler Harrison and Hannah Harrison. Six great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Goughnour, Jena Maurey, Emma Maurey, Jacob Band, Jase Cornman, and Corbin Maurey. She is predeceased by brother James Altemos, sisters Mary Doyle, and Isabella Cousins. Celebration of Life will be held at the Halifax Hospice Chapel in Ormond Beach on Thursday May 18, 2017 at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Halifax Hospice Ormond Beach or the Alzheimer Association.
