Patricia Elaine Cottrell-Schick, born September 13, 1933 in Fords, NJ, was a high school science teacher in Strawberry Hills (Woodbridge High School) and a teacher for advanced grammar school students in Atlantic Highland, NJ. Prior to her retirement in 1987, she was awarded the prestigious "State of New Jersey Best Teacher's Award" in 1987.
She attended schools in Perth Amboy, NJ and graduated from East Stroudsburg State Teachers College in PA. She lived in Atlantic Highlands for 38 years prior to moving to Lancaster, PA. Subsequently, she became a Florida resident and divided her time between there and Lancaster City.
Patricia, who died February 12, 2014 is survived by her husband, Joseph Carl, a daughter, Betsy Jo Schick-Niederer, Garnet Valley, PA, two sons, David Evan Schick, Millersville, PA, and Gary Scott Schick, Leesburg, FL, and six grandsons, Jacob Schick, Adam Joseph Niederer, Edward Schick, Maxwell Niederer, Emery Schick and Tanner Schick.
I would have loved her as a teacher, even if it was a science course.
