Obituary

Patti Selby-Foshéé, loving wife and mother of two children, passed away at the age of 78, on Sunday, August 1, 2021.

Patti was born on December 27, 1942 in Washington, DC to Frank and Virginia (Carlan) Selby.  She graduated from Gwynn Park High School, class of 1960.  On July 15, 1961, she married William Edward Fosbrook.  They had two children, Christopher Wayne Fosbrook and Deanna Lynn Fosbrook.  Patti was divorced from Bill in 1976.  She later remarried to James Foshéé on January 10, 2010.

Patti worked at People’s Bank in Suitland, Maryland before beginning her career with the Federal Government which initially began at the Census Bureau as a GS3 for 2 years.  She then transferred to Andrews Air Force Base where she worked for the Department of Air Force, Office of the Secretary as a Classification Officer.  From 1972 – 1977, she continued her civilian service for the Department of the Air Force at the Pentagon.  After being stationed at the Pentagon, Patti worked for the Patent Office as Personnel Management and Labor Relations Chief.  She retired from the Federal Government as a GS14 in 1996 after 28 years of total service.  Patti obtained an AA Business Degree from Prince George’s Community College and continued her studies in Business Administration at the University of Maryland attending night school during her earlier career years.  After her retirement from the Federal Government, she worked an additional 10 years as a Contractor for TSA hiring Federal Air Marshalls.

Patti loved to sing and was a member of her Catholic church choir.  Her passion for music and barbershop harmony led her to performing with the Sweet Adeline’s International Vienna Falls Chorus and the Pride of Baltimore Chorus.  She loved listening to Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, and Frank Sinatra, singing barbershop harmony, and ballroom dancing.  During her marriage to Jim, they enjoyed traveling around the world and golfing together.  Patti was known for her charisma and intelligence and had a wonderful sense of humor.  She was the master of knowing how to accessorize her wardrobe with color coordinated outfits, matching handbags and shoes, scarfs, hats, and belts.  She was a woman of dignity who held herself to the very highest of standards.

Patti was preceded in death by her father, Frank, her mother, Virginia, and her brother, Frank (Buster), and her son-in-law, Lee.  She is survived by her husband, James Foshee, her children, Chris Fosbrook and Deanna Mann Wilkinson (John), Grandson, Lashley H.
