Obituary

Patrick L. Hanrahan , age 82, died on March 6, 2022 at his home in Port Orange, FL in the company of his beloved wife and daughter.

Patrick is survived by his wife, Janice Hanrahan of Port Orange, FL; his daughters, Brenda Kronzek (David) of Boca Raton, FL; Barbara Romito (George) of Mt. Holly Springs, PA; Nancy Dintaman (Charles) of Dover, PA; Erin (Brody) Hanrahan of Port Orange, FL; 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren (soon to be 15). He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Florence Hanrahan of Omaha, NE; his brother, Thomas Hanrahan of Omaha, NE; and his daughter, Lisa Kisner, of Port Orange, FL.

Patrick was born on February 27, 1940 in Omaha, NE, to Lester and Florence (Brodigan) Hanrahan. He attended Doane College and the University of Omaha where he studied history. He joined the Coast Guard in 1962 and was the Captain of the football team where he was affectionately known as “Papa Bear”.

In 1965, he moved to Williamsport, PA where he worked on the docks at Halls Motor Transit Company and later became Security Manager of the East Coast.

Patrick was a great family man and a loving father. He married Janice MacDonald in 1968 and together they raised five daughters. Coaching football and mentoring men from pee wee football to Bucknell University was his passion. He helped many young men along the way who needed a father figure in their lives and will be sorely missed by all.

His family and friends will always remember him as a social, happy man who was very proud of his Irish heritage and his family. He was also very proud of his Coast Guard service.

A memorial service is scheduled for Patrick on March 18, 2022, from 3:00-5:00pm at Baldwin Crematory in Port Orange, FL. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Patrick’s life. Donations can be sent to K’9’s for Warriors at k9sforwarriors.org.
