Obituary

Patrick Caranfa, 75, of Stone Creek in Ocala, FL, formerly of Bradenton, FL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 21, 2018 after a battle with cancer.  Pat was born in Philadelphia, PA to Henry and Anna Caranfa who preceded him in death.  He graduated from St. Thomas More Catholic High School and then proudly served our country in the US Navy.  Pat began his lifelong insurance career at The Reliance in Philadelphia.  He loved his profession and spent most of his career as a commercial property and casualty underwriting executive.  He worked for Northwestern National Insurance Co., in Milwaukee, WI (now AK Steel) for 18 years.  His insurance career continued in Florida on both coasts and he recently retired after enjoying 10 years at FCCI in Sarasota, FL.  Pat leaves behind his loving wife of 46 years, Mary (Webb), his son, David (Jung), of whom he was so proud and his precious granddaughter, Ella.  Pat also leaves behind his Yorkie buddy of 11 years, Noodles, as well as cherished in-laws, Gerald and Linda Howard and Brad and Faye Webb.  He also has many friends and neighbors in Stone Creek that were very supportive during this time.  Pat enjoyed fine woodworking, wildlife photography, biking, reading, and lately, learning to play the piano.  He was privileged to serve as a Big Brother to two Little Brothers while living in Wisconsin.  Pat and Mary enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and visiting with family and friends.  Pat would encourage everyone to carry out their plans sooner rather than later.  The family also thanks Kindred Hospice for their compassionate care.  At Pat’s request, there will be no service.  Those wishing to express condolences may do so by contributing to the Sarasota Audubon Society at www.sarasotaaudubon.org .  Click on Beach Nesting Birds under Donate to help protect the shorebirds he so loved to photograph.  Arrangements by Baldwin Brothers Funerals & Cremations 11250 SW 93rd Ct. Rd.  Ocala, FL 352-236-7813.
