He had a successful career as co-owner of Superior Mechanical Services in Maryland. In 2004 he met his wife, Sue. They retired to Estero in 2013. He loved ribbing his friends, golf, regular wing outings and ice cream.

He is survived by his wife, Sue, daughters Kelley (John) Griffin, Lindsay (Steve) Abell, Stepdaughters April (David Rathbun) Abernethy, Heather Abernethy, Sister, Ann Wilson and Brothers Ed and Robert Wilson, as well as his beloved grandchildren Alexandra (Kevin) Killian, Durant Abernethy IV, Carolyn Abernethy, Dane and Wyatt Pulvermacher, and Jack Abell.

While he will be greatly missed, we will remember Paul for his unconditional love, pranks and storytelling. We know he will be telling jokes and teasing friends and family that awaited him on the other side.

Paul will be truly missed. The first night that we met him, he asked if we were the people who bought the house sitting on the sink hole. I knew that I had met my match with humor! We will forever remember him fondly and wish our deepest sympathy to the family.

I played in a member-member event with Paul a few years ago and on one hole he had a great second shot and got to the green. I told him the good news was he was on the green, but the bad news was he was putting. He brought that up every time I saw him after that. We will miss him.

Paul fought for such a long time. I don't know that I have ever seen anyone persevere so. May he be at peace now.

    Dear Sue,

I was so sorry to hear the sad news and my heart goes out to you. Paul was a 'star' but he was also the kindest man; when I lost my lovely Barbara and I was finally able to return to Wildcat, Paul stopped me in the Club and I will never forget his lovely words and kindness.

My thoughts and love are with you and your family at this sad time.

    Chris

I only recently got to know Paul but in that short time I already knew he was a great guy. He was kind and thoughtful as well as having a great sense of humor. I wish I had gotten the chance to know him sooner. He will be missed.
