Obituary

Philip was a wonderful and loving husband, father, and son. After 32 years of dealing with Parkinson’s disease and three years of Lewy body dementia, he finally succumbed to his illnesses. Philip passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends. He was an industrial mechanic for Publix for over 20 years working in Lakeland and Deerfield Beach, FL. Prior to that, he worked for the Southland Corporation in Miami and Desnose & Geddes which is home to Red Stripe beer. Originally from Kingston, Jamaica, his first love was the sport of soccer, however, his immigration to the states included a newfound love for American football, and the Dolphins became his favorite team. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of 40 years, and son, Carl. A celebration of life will be held on May 6th, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Pelican Cove West Clubhouse at 203 Falcon Avenue in Edgewater, FL.

Philip was my friend for over 50 years! We laughed, had adventures and fished together. He was brave, strong, fair and always direct on any topic - he faced the illness with incredible determination. He is in a better place now, and with family who got there first. We will meet again!

I love you so much Dad! I miss you everyday, but I know you are in a better place. You definitely taught me well and I look forward to making you proud while you are up in heaven. Love, CJ
