Obituary

Ramona Marie (Anderson) Jolivette,92, quietly left us the morning of May 24th, 2023. Our hearts are broken, and we are a bit lost – but we are together and so grateful to have been with her on this journey as far as we could take her. We know that she is in the loving arms of Jesus, having happy hours with Neil, dancing with Dad, loving on her babies, and getting love from G’ma Julie. Her brothers and cousins have been waiting for her to join the party. Ramona was born August 31, 1930 to Harry and Julia (Brague) Trocinski in LaCrosse, WI. She married Leslie Anderson in 1948 and they raised their children on the family farm in Mindoro, WI. She was widowed in 1971 and built a new home in West Salem. She married Neil Jolivette in 1982, after retirement they enjoyed traveling, dining out, hosting happy hours, and winters in their FL home. We lost Neil in 2018. She always said how lucky she was to have two great loves in her lifetime.

As a teenager Mona worked in her Dad’s auto garage in Mindoro, (where she met Leslie), taking care of the records. She later used those skills working most of her career as an accountant at Lakeview Health Center, West Salem.

She loved her family unconditionally. When one of her flock strayed or chose a different path, she loved them through it without judgement (we all had a turn at needing that grace). In the same way, she opened her loving arms to our friends, becoming beloved Momma Mona to many. She loved happy hours with lively conversation and lots of laughter. All were welcome at Joli’s Pub! She loved live music, dancing, and sing-a-longs, especially with her favorite band, Anderson Road. She loved Friday night fish frys with an Old Fashioned at the Village Inn. She especially loved snuggling all the babies, from her first grandson in 1968 to her latest great granddaughters in 2021.

Ramona is survived by her children: Dennis Anderson (Rhonda Olafson), Mindoro, WI; Mary Sinclair (Rich) Mindoro, WI; Lori Hudson (Brian Davis), Ft. Myers, FL.

Stepdaughters: Karen Jolivette (Deak Lyden), West Salem, WI; Laure Olson (John), Holmen, WI; and Michelle Ellingson (David), Hokah, MN

Grandchildren: Chris Anderson (Teresa), Dustin Anderson (Jodi), Rick Anderson (Kayla), Johanna Wanie, Jesse Wanie (Pa Nia Xiong), Brandon Olson (Katherine), Joshua Olson (Alli), Gwen Benish (Tyler), Brittany Ellingson, and Camden Ellingson. She has 16 great-grandchildren, all brought her much joy.

Sister, Linda Koopman (Edward), Ettrick, WI and Sister-in law, Diane Jolivette, La Crosse, WI She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Anderson and their sons Michael, Dean, and David; her brothers Jim, Arlan, and Ken Trocinski; and her husband Neil Jolivette.

Each of us enjoyed a unique and special relationship with her that we can all cherish in our hearts. “She has changed me for the better.”, has been spoken more than once. She was many things including resilient, adventurous, determined, quick witted, feisty, funny, with a stink eye that none of us wanted to be on the receiving end of. She was a survivor of many unthinkable tragedies and storms. Yet, she demonstrated how to live with joy and gratitude, in spite of the hardships she endured.

It is our hope that each of us will return to our daily lives determined to love deeper, laugh harder and live fully with kindness and compassion.

We are deeply grateful for the spiritual guidance of Pastor Emma Grinde, Mindoro Lutheran Church, who embraced the technology to walk with us from thousands of miles away. Thank you to Chandra RN from Hope Healthcare and Mona’s Fan Club whose video messages lifted her and us through the difficult days. Thank you to all who sent cards, messaged, and called, and visited. We felt your love and the circle of community around us from near and afar.

Services will be held at Mindoro Lutheran Church, Mindoro, WI on June 11th at 3 pm, with visitation one hour prior. There will be food and fellowship immediately following the service. Burial will be at a later date in Neshonic Cemetery, West Salem. Memorials may be designated to Mindoro Lutheran Church or Spay-Lee Animal Rescue Charity Organization.

Baldwin Brothers, Fort Myers, FL is entrusted with final care.
