Obituary

Reggie William Madson of North Fort Myers, FL passed away March 21, 2022, at the age of 80.

Reggie was born October 10, 1941, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of John ‘Chuck’ and Geneva Madson. Growing up in Farnhamville, IA, he graduated high school from Cedar Valley with many friends, several of whom he maintained friendships with throughout his life. Initially enrolled in the University of Iowa, he switched to Iowa State University and graduated a proud Hawkeye. After a little time in management at Montgomery Wards, he went on to a lifetime career as Auditor at Interstate Power Company and retired after 30 years of service. He married the love of his life, Loreen (Kunkel) Madson on April 2, 1966, and they spent 51 wonderful years together. After raising their 3 boys in southern Minnesota, they relocated to the Twin Cities to be closer to their sons and grandchildren. They also purchased their ‘Up North’ lake home, where time spent always left indelible memories. In their retirement, they enjoyed spending time at the lake with their kids and grandkids, fishing, swimming, and Reggie loved being the captain of the pontoon and catching a tan. During the colder months, they frequently traveled to Mexico and made many friends there as well. Deciding he thrived in the warm weather so much, Reggie relocated to Del Tura Golf and Country Club in North Fort Myers, Florida in 2017. There he enjoyed socializing with all the residents, playing ping pong, Bridge, singing in the choir and again made many new friends. A special thanks to Del Tura neighbors Jeff and Laura for their incredible love and friendship, Jim and Tina for wonderful support and amazing carpentry skills, and Audrey, whose companionship he truly appreciated.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife Loreen, parents, and infant grandson Justin of Alexandria, MN. Reggie is survived by sons David (Christina) Madson of St. Bonifacius, MN, Dale Madson of Burnsville, MN, and Danny Madson of Springfield, MO; brother Richard (Marie) Madson of Fairfax Station, VA; sister Roxanne ‘Roxi’ Madson of Lee’s Summit, MO; five grandchildren: Megan, Mason, Nathan, Kyra, and Gavin; 2 great grandchildren: Quinn, Landry; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Service is pending. Memorials are preferred to CIRSI (Central Iowa Residential Services Incorporated).
