Obituary
Richard (Dick) Stelter, son of Arnold and Gladys (Plante) Stelter, passed unexpectedly at his seasonal home in N. Fort Myers, Florida, on March 23, 2024. Dick was born on November 2, 1943, and grew up in Chippewa Falls. He graduated from McDonell High in 1962 and obtained both Bachelors and Masters degrees in Industrial Arts from Stout University. As a high school teacher he started his career in Baraboo, WI, then joined the Chippewa High School staff for many years of teaching thereafter.
Dick married Joyce Wrasse in August 1968, and they had one daughter, Shelly Jean Stelter. His many loves centered on family, friends, fishing, and fun and he was remarkably attentive to all four. He is survived by his daughter, Shelly; his two siblings, brother, Jack (Mary Jo) Stelter and his sister Lynne (Buzz) Nelson; his four nephews, Ryan, Nathan, Eric Stelter, and Daniel Nelson; as well as, one niece, Kathryne Nelson-Smieja. He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents. For the last several years Dick had a special relationship with Patty Mrozinski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, May 18, at the Our Lady of the Falls Catholic Church (formerly Notre Dame), 117 Allen St., Chippewa Falls, WI 54729. Directly thereafter at 12:00 noon a Celebration of Life will be held at the Fill Inn Banquet and Bar in downtown Chippewa Falls.
