Obituary

Richard Allen Ristau, 59, Vero Beach, Fl died Sunday, May 1, 2011. He was born in Albany, New York and came to this area in 2006 from Bellvue, Colorado. He was a graduate of the University of Maine and worked as a property manager for Elliot Merrill Property Management. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Janell Anne Blackmore Ristau, two sons Robert W and Michael R Ristau both of Queensbury, NY, his Mother Nancy Ann Noble of Vero Beach, FL, sister Linda Foley of Hingham, NY and brother David Ristau of Troy, NY.  He was preceded in death by his father Richard G Ristau. Baldwin Brothers Cremation Society 1 North Causeway New Smyrna Beach FL 32169 is in charge of arrangements.   Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  Friends may send their condolences to the family at www.baldwincremation.com. A Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a later date.

    Janelle, I was a classmate of Rich's at Maine. So deeply sorry for your loss and all that he must have gone through. We were PE majors together and he and his TKE brothers actually kidnapped me for a Pledge Class party they had our freshman year - it's a long story. He was a great guy and a lot of fun. I am also the class correspondent for the Maine Alumnus, so I will be sure to let our classmates know. Live life to the fullest - it looks like he did.

    Dear Janelle,
    Rich always went out of his way to help us if we needed it, or asked for assistance. He was truly a nice person. We enjoyed seeing the photos of him fishing, as Otis thought he was one of the best fishermen he had ever met.
    His was a good life cut too short too soon.

    Janelle, Michael & Rob, we want you to know what a great friend Rich was to us. The memories we have with him are priceless. We got to know Rich when we lived in Windsor, CO and were building homes. He was our lumber rep. He was the best at what he did and you know, we havn't found anybody that compares. Our chats around the kitchen table during that time, of course, "all business" were always enjoyable. Duane and Rich both have a love for the outdoors, Duane mostly hunting, but Rich got him going fishing a time or two. If you ever heard the story of a canoe about capsizing that was Duane and Rich.

    I will miss you Rich. We had a lot of good times together and I'm glad I was able to introduce you to your wife. I'll miss you singing in my kitchen while you painted and I'll miss talking to you while you worked around the house. You fought the good fight but it was tought and I'm glad your struggle is over.
