Obituary

Richard “Paul” Turner of The Villages, FL, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2019. Paul was the son of Lucille Monica and Richard Rollen Turner. He was born in San Antonio, TX, on February 11, 1940. He graduated from Brackenridge High School in San Antonio in 1957 and attended St. Mary’s College. He was a member of the Texas Civil Air Patrol for four years. He served in the Texas Air National Guard from 1957 to 1963. He joined IBM in 1959 and retired 32 years later in 1991, having held numerous positions and making several relocations within the U.S. He also spent three years in Hong Kong as the Southeast Asia Regional Personal Manager from 1977 to 1980.
Paul met his loving and devoted wife, Marie Cicala, while they were both working for IBM in Boca Raton. They married on November 18, 1977. He is survived by Marie, sons Richard (Corrine) Turner, Jr. Jon (Gale) Turner, brother Robert (Brenda) Turner and sister Carolyn (Jim) Alley. Paul has one granddaughter, Janelle Turner, and one great grandson, William Fear. He is also survived by many special in-laws, cousins, nephews and nieces.
Paul and Marie were blessed to move to The Villages in 2011 and have the most caring, fun and loyal friends and neighbors anyone could hope for. He loved to golf (4 holes-in-one), cruise, go to the movies and go to TooJay’s at Lake Sumter Landing for breakfast where Leslie (and Beth in her absence) always gave him and Marie the best possible service. He dearly loved and enjoyed the many Corvettes he owned over the years having sold the last one earlier this year. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 20, at 11:00 a.m. at New Covenant United Methodist Church, 3470 Woodridge Drive, The Villages. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Your Humane Society SPCA, P.O.
