Obituary
Robert G. Dixon Jr, 65, went home to be with Jesus in Heaven on February 12, 2024 after quietly and gracefully fighting cancer for nearly 6 years. Rob is survived by his wife and best friend Kristy Dixon, daughter Grace, mother Betty Jean Dixon, and brother Doug Dixon. He also had close and special loving relationships with his family-in-law: father and mother John and Pam Fischer, brother and sister John and Holly Fischer, and niece and nephew Hannah and Jack Fischer.
Rob was an accomplished businessman in Aerospace and Defense for over 35 years prior to retiring and devoting his life to supporting his wife and daughter and avidly serving others through his love of God. Rob received his Bachelor of Science from North Carolina State University and his Master of Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Rob began his career in Aerospace and Defense in San Diego, California working for BAE Systems in various leadership positions within engineering management, program management and business development. He moved to Orlando, Florida in 2000 as Director of Business Development for Lockheed Martin, transitioned to SimiGon, Inc in 2010 and Elbit Systems of America in 2011 where he retired in 2017. Rob was a masterful strategist and business capture leader. He had a passion for leading teams to develop solutions to meet complex customer training and logistics needs in domestic and international military aviation and defense. Rob supported a vast set of customers across the globe with experiences across North and South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East. His passion for traveling and experiencing other cultures extended into his personal life as he traveled to all 50 states and over 64 countries.
In addition to his professional passions, Rob joyfully supported and served those he loved through cooking, providing home automation/maintenance advice, travel advice, and general counsel to others. He formally answered his calling to serve others through his leadership of a small church group from First Baptist Orlando and most recently completing a semester of training in the Advent Health Clinical Pastoral Education program to serve as a hospital Chaplain.
Rob was a positive light, respected, valued and appreciated for his care and going above and beyond in everything he did for others. A celebration of life will be held at Henry Chapel, First Baptist Orlando off John Young Parkway on February 21, at 11 am with a reception on the Faith Hall 3rd floor to follow. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, any memorial contributions may be made to support Rob’s ongoing mission to strongly advocate for his daughter Grace who lives with Angelman syndrome: https://gofund.me/433e3efd

Kristy & Grace - this loss is obviously even more immensely felt to you. Know you have us to lift you up, to catch you, and anything in between.
